Default Relocating to Maryland need help

Hello, I am relocating to Maryland with my young daughter. I will working in Prince George County, but I have heard that it is very dangerous to live there. Does anyone know which towns are safe, affordable, cultural, and has trains access to Prince George County? I am not opposed to living in Baltimore, does anyone know how long it takes to commute from Bmore to PGC by train? Also, where do I begin looking for childcare? I can afford about 1300-1500 for rent......any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!~

Just to clarify, you will be working in Prince George's County but plan to live in Baltimore? Where is your job located in the county?

PG County is a large area. When you ask about transportation, you need to be more specific. What CITY in PG County will you be working in? Some areas have better public transportation than others.

OK, I might not be understanding your situation, but, if you hear PG is very dangerous and that worries you, the last place you want to move is Baltimore City. There are some places in PG that are pretty tough, but unlike Baltimore City, there are plenty of places in PG that are OK. Check out the areas of Mitchellville/Bowie, Kettering, Clinton, Upper Marlboro.

Again, unless you know what town in PG can't give an estimate of travel time. There is a big difference from northern PG to southern. The most northern tip of PG has the town of Laurel. It has a historic district and is about 1/2 hour from Baltimore. Its a fairly decent area. Central PG could take an hour or more and southern PG probably 2 hours. Not all areas are serviced by the commuter train either. Driving may be involved or buses. Once you know where you are working, I'm sure we can help you more with your transportation questions.

Hello All,

I am considering relocating to Maryland, but am very open as to where. I am currently a New Jersey native and looking to relocate Spring 09 (have to sell my house). I am an state employee and was wondering how hard it would be to find employment w/ the state of Md. I work for child protective services. Also any good areas to live.

Thanks in advance.

Default Frederick - Ellicott City

Kyaah, I'd reccommend Frederick, north of DC and west of Baltimore at the bottom of the mountains. It's a great little town. I might reccommend that for ladyphilosphy too, but there is no rail service to PG County from Frederick. She might want to try the Ellicott City/Elkridge area.
