I live in Bowie and know several quality, single men who live here who would date a quality, single white woman. There are several greet Meet Up groups in the area for single people, so I'd check into those as soon as you get here. Yes, people here do travel to date, and if/after it gets serious, then there is a conversation about who will have the longer commute, LOL.

I don't think there's a problem with finding men of quality in PG County. I think there's a problem finding quality people of regardless of gender everywhere.

Like others have mentioned, living in PG County, you're not far from DC, Montgomery County, and NOVA (especially if you live in Ft Washington). So you'll have access to a greater pool of eligible men than just PG County if you choose to venture out of the county for activities and events. I'm 33 and go to DC often for happy hours and other social events, and sometimes Alexandria & Arlington, even though I live in Bowie. But I'm also active in activities here in Bowie and come across a diverse selection of people. As long as you're out and about throughout the DC area, not just in Bowie/Ft Washington, I don't think you should have a hard time running into men. Now whether they're quality or not depends on your definition.

The HIV rate is pretty high in comparison to where you're from, so you would need to take that into consideration.

Personally I'm open to all kinds of men (read no preferences) as long as they are quality men; however, I'm concerned that the men in this area are not open to dating white women. Do you think I will have to look outside of Prince Georges County for dates/a relationship...if so, which areas would be best? thanks!

so you don’t care what type of man?? ok go to a club in langley park or riverdale and see who wants to date the teacher lol. why don’t people just go out and talk to people? so this is what the pg teachers are doing in there free time! lol no joke but what type of post is this? i mean not all pg is black and black men like having the white lady to show off to there friends. and hey if u hot hook me up but u 30 and i 19. lol. and ur a teacher in pg county? who wants to work there? sounds like you don’t care who u get with and think all PG is black, well miss its not and this isn’t the most quality county either. so go to your starbucks in bethesda and u will find someone. btw welcome to maryland!

In addition, the DC area is part of the North Eastern Megalopolis, not the Tennessee Valley. The sheer number of people and the extensive transportation network increase the odds from the start. A quick glance at google maps and one can see how expansive the DC metro area is and all the demographics involved and available for dating.

I would be more concerned if I was moving from the DC area to Tennessee.

Generally speaking the bigger problem here is you will be single in an area that is largely suburban middle and working class families. I am not sure color is the issue, it is just PG is not exactly brimming with college educated single people. With that being said PG county is one county in a much larger DC metro area. You are not really going to struggle, and it is not unusual for people to get out of teaching in PG soon after moving here since they are the lowest paying district in the area. DC, MoCo, and many of the NoVa suburbs all pay more.
