That's not good news. The crime is just shift to another locations in DMV.

The less concentrated it is the better. There is less of a multiplier and negative social network loop effect. Dispersion is good news. We should not be warehousing these types in cities in the first place. It leads to massive negative consequences.

Correct. There's still room for improvement - current voucher system still largely concentrates poverty, opens the door to slumlord abuse, etc., but voucher and HOPE VI programs are obviously a massive improvement over the large housing projects of the 50s and 60s.

All I can relay are my personal experiences... including my current situation. Live in a quiet older neighborhood (established mid 1950s) with give or take 55 homes.

There is ONE section house halfway down the block. That ONE house has destroyed the neighborhood. It's the only house you see, hear, smell, and disrupts. It is the only house that the police have EVER been to in the neighborhood. It is the only house with 6 cars that come and go constantly.

ONE house.

one house.

Well that sounds like a bummer. Have you tried contacting the owner and explaining how the tenant sucks/is hurting property values? It's possible, if not likely, that they're unaware of the situation. Or they don't care/maintain the property poorly and that's the best quality tenant they can attract. Either way, putting some pressure on them might help.

No. Same thing happened when I lived in DC, near the Soldiers Home (Petworth).
Just one house. I tried then, with no luck.

Hopefully, We will be moving soon. We have a young one and schools are primary. Looks like it's back to VA.

Sorry. Gave DC a chance and gave MD a chance... nope.

I know VA and know there's ghetto there too. Just seems like the system there doesn't tolerate as much nonsense.

We'll see.

This.

And the only real solution to crime is a police state OR punishments so harsh for crimes that people are terrified to even consider committing one. I personally support harsh punishments for violent crimes.. but ONLY for violent crimes. If you get 20 years in person for assaulting someone you'll think twice.
