This Post article on Connect DMV mentions College Park. https://www.washingtonpost.com/local...obertmccartney

The group is pushing three specific initiatives to position the region early in high-tech industries.

It’s behind a proposal to build a $2.5 billion “global pandemic center” in Montgomery. It hopes to build a pilot project, possibly in Northern Virginia, to study using hydrogen as a fuel for aviation, shipping and trucking.

And it wants to establish an “innovation center” to prepare the region for leadership in the cutting-edge industry of quantum computing. Prince George’s is home to two leaders in the field — the University of Maryland at College Park and the private company IonQ.

Let's see where MOntgomery county wants to put this pandemic center. If it doesn't go into the East county near the FDA and the new development they want to kick off there it would be a travesty.

They stressed the need to balance out the industry between east and west Montgomery County. To continue to stack the deck against the east part of the county would be to neglect those residents and create steep class divisions.

I agree, plus I am not sure where they could put this up county.

Drove down Rt. 1 yesterday. So many cranes! College Park City Hall is coming along nicely. Even noticed the second building of the Enclave rising.

Can't wait until non-student housing is finished.

College Park Honda is moving to Greenbelt. What would be a good replacement at the College Park Honda site?

Just drove through College Park on Rt 1. this morning. Whoa! It's like one big town center being built at the same time. Soooooo much construction going on.

Also saw the fence up where the new student apartments are being built behind Nandos, Qu Japan, and Potbelly. Things are moving pretty fast.

Also saw the new building to the right of the Chapel. Completely forgot about that building.

Second building to the Enclave has topped out.

Really like this momentum. It's amazing how much is going on. I though it was busy a few years ago. This construction period is insane.

The southern gateway is moving along with the project beside it underway. Guilford RD. is going to look completely different than it did just 10 years ago. Amazing.
