Which lake or creek do you recommend for fishing for small fish?

Why would they not allow fishing at Gunners Lake?

It is allowed. Sometimes fishing isn't allowed in areas used for drinking water. That doesn't apply here since it's a sedimentation pond. I definitely wouldn't eat any fish caught there.

Nah, I am not that hungry. I am catching fish for an aquarium. Why do I only catch bluegills?

Because that's one of the more common types of lake fish.

What's the second most common type. How come I am not catching the second or third most common type?

Good sized snakeheads can be caught in Southern Maryland/ST. Mary's State Park. However they must be killed when caught. Very illegal and DNR will give you a nice fine if caught with a live one.

They do however make for good eating.

Why must they be killed?

They are an invasive species which devastates local fish. They were originally released, it is thought, by private aquarists. There was a bounty on them a few years ago.
