Can someone please tell me what the typical gas & electric utility bills are in Montgomery County?

Planning to purchase an approximately 3000 square foot single family home in the Rockville area
Thanks for your help.

Idreos:

I am unsure what it is like in MoCo, but if it uses Pepco then maybe I can help a little bit by bringing my PGC perspective as an educated guess.

Assuming you have a gas furnace, use the electricity sparingly (not much throughout regular business hours during the work week), and have some minor electrical efficiency tweaks (e.g. LED bulbs), you are looking at 100-200 dollars per month for electricity.

Gas will run you between 100-200 dollars as well if you have Washington Gas as your provider, but it could actually run more even though gas rates are more favorable. This is because of the lack of efficiency in most gas furnaces in the region, terrible insulation standards for MD, and you will likely keep your furnace set to a minimum temperature during the winter months (even if you are not at home). The good news is that you are probably looking at the 30s-50s monthly cost during summer months.
