Maybe you should think less along the lines of color and more in age... as in, old people (which constitute a substantial makeup of Fort Washington) are leaving and being replaced with younger folk.

The comment earlier about Fort Washington and National Harbor makes sense. National Harbor buttresses Fort Washington and although it is officially claimed by Oxon Hill it is closer aligned to Fort Washington (thanks to the highway) than Oxon Hill. Also thanks to the highway: drivers will just cruise down MD210 from National Harbor to their homes in Fort Washington, which is convenient.

No one cruise's on Rt 210 at any time during rush hour.Maybe you should educate yourself on the area first and while you're at it read the title of the thread.

I actually live in Fort Washington. You don't. Maybe *you* should educate yourself to this area. But that would imply you can be educated.

I find the whole idea that building a casino somehow makes an area more appealing to those looking to buy a home to be hysterical.

Especially when that's coupled with the idea that it was built for local residents to go to. Peterson Cos. said from day one they neither wanted nor expected local residents to patronize National Harbor and pretty much had to be forced to commit to the hiring of locals as part of the development plan approval.

Not for those who work in the Casino industry - chefs, hospitality, security, etc. Those people would love to live close to their jobs just like anyone else. Again, what's with this old notion that today's casinos resemble anything close to those portrayed in the movies as dark dens of organized crime and debauchery? Can we please live in the 21st century? National Harbor is not Atlantic City nor Las Vegas. Home values in the area haven't tanked. People aren't running for the hills.
