Hi all!

I am relocating soon to Maryland. I will be working near JHU APL. I am looking for an apartment with rent at or below $2,000.

Just wondering what areas I should look in or stay away from?

Thank you.

stay away from areas around JHU, my daughter works there, security escorts her to her car.

JHU APL isn't anywhere near JHU, nor is it even remotely unsafe.

OP, obviously it depends on what you're looking for. Without any info, I'd guess that Columbia might be a good option - easy commute, within budget, and it has some amenities.

Yes this is the one in Laurel. I was looking at Columbia and Ellicot. I’m flexible on the actual budget, just wasn’t sure if there are any other areas that may be better to look at. Thank you!

There are several nice apartment complexes in Ellicott City if that's what you meant by Ellicot. There is also Oella just across the Howard County/Baltimore County line near the historic area that has some unique apartments, though the roads in Oella might be a tad tricky if there is ice or snow.

Any knowledge on how the Avalon apartments in Columbia are, or Country Place in Burtonsville?

you have to do your research on those but those apts are closer to major highways, schools, shopping, and much more.
