I recently moved to Gaithersburg, living near Shady Grove Station.
I am looking for information about bike to work (Shady Grove to White Oak).

All info is welcomed.

- Bike racks at Shady Grove availability?

- Bike routes

- safe ? - I know it's a stupid question, but I'm new to the area.

All info you can give me would be appreciated.

This organization has existed for over 40 years, and provides advice and help to regional bike commuters
Washington Area Bicyclist Association | Advocacy and Education in the Washington Area

If you Click on the top of their home page, on RESOURCES and then click on MAPS AND DOCUMENTS and then finally click on MONTGOMERY COUNTY (MD) BIKE MAP it shows an official bike map of Mont. County.

Going east from Shady Grove (roughly the location marked "370" on that map), it appears that a portion of the ICC (Inter-county connector) has a paved off-road trail (that's marked in Green on the map). And there are also bike lanes (marked in Purple on the map) on a small part of Route 650 (New Hampshire Avenue) going to and from White Oak, and also going further north.

You can also register your name, or search for carpool/ vanpool arrangements on this linked site, for free https://www.commuterconnections.org which is a public service of the "Washington Area Council of Governments."

It appears on https://maps.google.com/landing/transit/index.html that public transportation between your home and office is very slow and impractical.
