I agree with you. I cannot tell you how many times I was nearly run over in a crosswalk in Bethesda in the course of about 10 years. "Professionals" in their expensive cars and on cellphones, very self-styled "VIPs" who couldn't lose a second getting wherever they were going and did NOT look for or respect ped's. I am in a car-based lifestyle at this time, living in Silver Spring, and it's not ideal, but I'm less scared. Bicycling around here? Suicidal, to me.
