Eldersburg is a great area with good schools, great community, lots of parks, etc. The only two things that would worry me are: 1. commute time to/from work (Rt. 32 can be pretty bad during rush hour), and 2. not a lot for teenagers to do in the area. Other than those things, I would strongly recommend Eldersburg.

If you are working in Beltsville then why not live in Beltsville. The area is nice.
Greenbelt is also a nice area.
Laurel is also nice.
Both Greenbelt and Laurel are both close to Beltsville.

Eldersburg is a wonderful place to live. Schools are among the best in the state. Ranked #56 best place to live in US by Money magazine. Very low crime. Very friendly people. Definitely a family atmosphere. I would not recommend if single or no kids. Lots of kids sports programs. Lots of churches. Much more affordable than anything closer to DC. The area has grown considerably in the last 10 years. Much more shopping and restaurants and things for kids to do. But with that comes more traffic. It's not crazy but definitely getting busier.

I think you should stay close to your job.
The DC,MD,VA area are known for lots and lots of traffic. The price of gas is increasing while rush hour is getting longer and traffic is getting worst.

I think Beltsville is a nice area to live.
