Hi Everyone,

I hope someone can help me out with this commute question. I'm finally ready to buy my first home. My budget is 400K max so I’m thinking townhome. Currently I live in an apartment in Silver Spring and I work downtown off the New York Avenue metro stop.

In the near my future wife will move to the area and she is expecting a position at Georgetown University Hospital. I'm trying to find a place that will work for both of us. Ideally I would like to keep her commute to about 30 mins by car. I would love a place by the metro so I can take that into work. I'm not sure if that’s possible.

My realtor suggested the Silver Spring area and Rockville. Can anyone give me an estimate of how long the drive to Georgetown would take from these locations? We don’t have kids so schools are not a factor right now. We just want a nice place in a safe neighborhood. Also, please feel free to suggest any other area. Thanks in advance!

^ what about Seven Locks. From RKV or SS, that drive will be at least an hour in rush hour.
