Yes, but when PGCPS is compared to Baltimore City Schools it's at least close.

Generally, the schools are pretty bad, especially the middle schools.

There are some bright spots, however and those that choose to live in PG County can get a good education if they play their cards right.

There are some good elementary schools, notably University Park and Berwyn Heights.

Eleanor Roosevelt HS is probably one of the best schools in the entire region.

On the "great schools net" website you can read statistics about individual schools all over the USA, along with comments from students and parents who have attended them.

Northern PG schools and those further away from the city aren't as bad. The county system at large is still far better than DC or Baltimore's, yet inferior to its neighbors.
