A person I just met told me basically I deserve to not have a job because I didn't go to an elite school.

I've been to other cities like KC where I could just sit down at the bar, someone to the left of me would just start talking, telling me about his newborn son, etc. While here, it's "impress me!".
Haha - what pricks. I've run into those people. I just look right at them and tell them "I didn't go to grad school." They get awkward for a moment. I keep staring at them. They talk about something else.

I've even had people stop talking to me because i didn't know the nickname where they work. I don't run into many, though. Most people are pretty cool and if they do ask about school / career are just trying to make small talk out of curiosity.

Status people in DC will make a distinguishment. Oh, and if you get with a woman who wants you because you are a lawyer, and you wind up hating being a lawyer, and switch to a less "status"ish job, she'll say buh bye.
You're running with the wrong people. I think you might surround yourself with these douches to torture yourself.

Hmm... I feel for ya. Maybe you're just a douche magnet. I'd hate this place too if I was inundated with people like that.

DC is the "average man's paradise". There is a surplus of attractive, ambitious, smart, amazing women. There is a distinct shortage of straight men who can approach, and carry on a simple conversation with, aforementioned amazing women.

If you are so socially inept that you need a social crutch like an elite job to be successful with women in DC, then you truly have nothing of value, as a human being, to offer to the fairer sex.

Thank you. What ever happened to having a "mouthpiece." The surplus of single women leads to them act desperate at times jump on the first straight piece of guy that they find. I have friends who have never seen any parts of anyone's college dating lawyers in DC.
