Funny because someone (can't remember who) was touting Go-Go as a positive, family friendly aspect of DC culture. Go-Go concerts has been a magnet for hoodlums and crime for years. It's not about unity, it's about a bunch of immature rival "crews" starting trouble...

Some concerts are. There is a big difference between a go-go band performing at a picnic in the day compared to performing at a night club.

Chief Lanier was on Kojo and explained that, in her opinion, the City Paper article was a little sensationalistic.

You have to admit that the city paper loves to hate MPD

seriously, if a lot of crime happens at go-gos, then wouldn't it make sense to have an increased police presence at them?
