I tend to check out the buyer before I buy. I bought my bedroom set from someone I knew though. I have some precautions about used beds..

I bought a mattress new, but everything else, why not? Are you worried about an end table being contaminated or something?

Agreed: I won't buy a used mattress, but I might buy other items from someone. It depends on the condition and the price.

I will look at everything, tho. For sure.

Bedbugs........... I love, love thrift stores but even I am now to the point that I wouldn't buy a couch or upholstered furniture used. Unless, I know the person selling it.

IKEA, World Market, MACY's, Target

Macy's actually has cute, well-priced (less than $800) couches. Especially if they are having a sale.

Dressers or wood furniture I still buy at thrift stores or from someone on CL.

VERY good point, indeed! I had not thought of that for other furniture than beds. Yikes! No thank you!

Yes, Macy's is your friend.
