I just love how when I post something that proves people wrong they completely ignore it or respond with something else that a kid would say. It's almost pointless to talk on this forum anymore. Half of the people don't even live in DC and there's a handful that are either still kids, or have the mindset of a kid. Might as well lock this thread as well since they ruined another one.

I'm not really sure what you're looking for. I understand that, in your position, you're likely going to have a different perspective on events like this than others. That's fine. But I maintain that to witness a situation such as the one described here, where there appeared to be little-to-no coordination between two different police departments, and that resulted in only two arrests when the riot included some 70-odd participants, represents a failure to adequately respond to a serious situation on the part of the police.
As a citizen, I have no expectations that the police will be everywhere at once, and that crime should be completely controlled. However, I do have expectations for a better response than what was witnessed Friday night.

That comment wasn't directed towards you at all. I disagree with you on the police thing, but that's all. You're not one of the people making immature posts.
It's happened before. Years ago there was a period where there was a problem in the news with youth coming in on metro/bus into either Georgetown or Tenley (can't remember which), hanging around and harrassing ppl. They don't actually live in the neighborhoods.
It was Tenley. And they were students at my beloved alma mater, Woodrow Wilson High. Probably the children of my former classmates.
The key is to provide more alternatives for the youth, so they don't get bored and do bad things.
The construction and rehabilitation of rec centers throughout the District has been a cornerstone of the Fenty administration--and in spite of this recent incident, violent crime continues to drop throughout the city.
But there are only so many alternatives you can offer to huge gangs of teens who congregate at 11 PM on a Friday night.
Why can't DC schools be year round? Won't that help a bit with the problem?
