This is part of my quest towards moving to DC surroundings towards the end of the year.

I have been searching for Jobs (just to get a feel of job concentration around a particular area etc) and there seem to be some (or better than most other states/cities)

So I was wondering on an average how much an IT developer/programmer would make either FT salary or hourly contract (W2 or Independent etc)

I have 12+ years combined experience in C#/.NET/Java/J2EE/C++. (I do have a patent to put on my resume (if anyone cares) that I worked on it sometime ago..I was a techlead/lead developer/architect and it is a solution for Telecom)

Anyone?

PS: I am not a US Citizen but have a Green card

I just plugged "C++ programmer" in the salary calculator at indeed.com.
It reported the average is $111K. From personal experience this is a bit high but not too far off. I'd say the average is around $100K

Since you aren't a U.S. citizen, you won't be able to get a security clearance which is required for many government contracts. This may limit your attractiveness to employers and your salary.
