45k a year
i graduate from college in May and i have been offered a job in D.C for a salary of 45k a year, is that enough to live on. I will probably live NOVA and commute, so is that enough to survive and pay off student loans? thanks in advance...

Get a roommate and you can live very well. Get your own place and you can live like a pauper despite having a long commute..

Get a roommate. You may be able to find some decent for around 1800-2000 for a 2br and come out paying around 1k a month.

I've lived off less than that and was fine when I first got up here. But yeah gotta get a roommate. Welcome to VA and good luck with your new job. Living alone can be done on $45K but you'll have a little change in your pocket if you do a group house type of thing or just 1 or 2 roommates in a nice condo.
