Well there it is. Target is now the weather vane of racial disunity. Ironically, I reckon that is progress.

Well I wouldn't go that far. Sounds like that particular Target just doesn't keep their store looking good. I will say that I do know plenty of DC people who still shop across the river at the Target in VA at Potomac Yards.

The Columbia Heights Target often looks picked over and with low stock because it is. I think that that particular Target serves a crowd that doesn't have a car and thus has fewer options than customers who go to the suburban Targets.

Also, why are people saying that this Target is a weathervane of racial disunity. From the times I've gone there, the shoppers are a good mix of whites and blacks with there being more whites in the store than blacks. I'd say demographically it seems about the same as the Target in Potomac Yards.

Don't forget the Hispanics/Latino population! I step foot in Target maybe once a month, and that's just to get a movie or something. I don't shop there often, but when I do go, it's always crowded. I reckon it will get even more crowded once they bring in the fresh produce stuff.

So, if this a racial issue, then how do you explain the clean and well stocked Target in Hyattsville? I think there were slightly more white people at the Columbia Heights location. For that matter, the 99.5% black Target at 87th and Cottage Grove Ave. on the south side of Chicago is in fine shape as well.

Potomac Yards has a very similar crowd. I'm not sure how people view that store, but I hope positively, as it's mine.

I like that Target and never had a problem. The crowd is probably just as diverse as the DC one. I can count on one hand the number of times I've been to the one in columbia heights simply because its so inconveniently located.

I have no explanation as I was intentionally being facetious. Drawing conclusions from observing two random Target stores is not my idea of scholarly investigation.
