Fortune wrote about the Dulles Tech Corridor in 1994. It referred to it as the "Netplex". It was considered the next Silicon Valley.

Yes the IT industry is strong in DC but why not make a chance in Chicago. There you will have lots of vacancies.

If you did an internship while you're a student with a government agency (ex. NSA) to get your clearance, the area is your oyster once you graduate. The need for cleared developers far outweighs the supply, and the salaries with a clearance are significantly higher.
