Default Visiting DC this weekend! Help!

Hello!

I am visiting Annapolis and DC this weekend and am looking for attractions/activities/tours/etc. to visit that aren't your typical run-of-the-mill. Are there any events going on this weekend? Also, is the Spy Museum cool?

Any cheap eats that I absolutely have to check out?

Grateful for any advice or recommendations,

Samantha

Bummer, ya should have been here last weekend when you had the Marine Corp Marathon, the Rally and other events going around in the city. I highly recommend you check out Ben's Chili Bowl on U Street

Yes, but the city was jam-packed last weekend. Metrorail only ran their trains 15 minutes apart, and the backlog of passengers waiting after the political Rally was total chaos.

You can get plenty of advice by clicking here:

1. Smithsonian Institution Note that the Smithsonian museums are all free of charge, while the Spy Museum and the Newseum both charge admission.

2. Washington DC Travel - Info for Travel to Washington DC

3. Reviews of Hotels, Flights and Vacation Rentals - TripAdvisor then select "Forums" "District of Columbia" and in the search box type the phrase "Hidden Gems".

4. Reviews of Hotels, Flights and Vacation Rentals - TripAdvisor then select "United States" then "District of Columbia" then click on "Travel Guide". You can read visitors' opinions about the Spy Museum and every other attraction in town.

5. Metro - Home page

Annapolis is a lot of fun; it's very walkable and quaint. Narrow colonial-era streets, the yacht harbor, many souvenier shops and art galleries especially selling nautical art; pubs and seafood restaurants. Take a guided tour of the Naval Academy, and also visit the State Capitol - the oldest one in the USA. You can either park for free at the Naval Stadium and walk the short distance into downtown -- or you can pay to park at 2 or 3 downtown parking garages. What are your hobbies and interests?

The cool thing about Washington, D.C. is that even the "run-of-the-mill" things are well worth checking out. Actually, they are must-visit sites. :-)

White House, Monument, Capitol building, Kennedy Center, Supreme Court, the Smithsonian and National Zoo, FDR Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Theodore Roosevelt Memorial, Holocaust Museum, Georgetown, Arlington Cemetery, Pentagon, Library of Congress, Washington National Cathedral, National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, the Pentagon, Mount Vernon, Army Medical Museum, Corcoran Gallery of Art, Woodrow Wilson House... it goes on and on.
