Hello,

So, ideally I (27yo male) would like easy access to the areas D.C. which are rich with restaurants and nightlife; however, I need to keep my commute to Fort Meade, MD reasonable (~40 mins).

My plan of action at this point is to live near a metro station that can then get me to the aforementioned areas. Without easy metro access I do not see a way to meet my needs, but if you have other suggestions please share!

Here are my needs so far:
1. Work commute 40 minutes or less -- without regarding traffic
2. Walkable metro access
3. Super close grocery
4. Rent ~$1800 single bed or ~$2400 two bed (this can possibly be bumped up)

Potential areas so far:
1. SW Waterfront
2. Silver Spring

What are your thoughts on these potential areas and my goals? Do you have any further suggestions?

I actually have a similar situation right now. I live about 2 blocks from the NY Ave / Florida Ave metro on the red line. I work in Columbia just a few miles down 32 once you exit off the B/W parkway. It takes me about 35 mins every morning. It's pretty easy since it's so close to NY avenue which leads you straight onto the parkway and the fact that I'm going against traffic helps too. You should check out the Grand Loree apartments on k street. I think they might be around that price range or a little higher.

Looks like the Loree Grand is very nice, but, according to their website, pushes the limits on my rent.

Excellent suggestion; I will look further into that area as well, Thanks!

I would agree with Silver Spring. Also consider Tacoma Park as many medical students and residents from Walter Reed rent houses/apts....lots of turnover and same demographic. Bethesda, Crofton and Bowie are other considerations that are beltway and metro accessbile. Good Luck!

SS is yuppie, over priced. Great access to DC not to Forte Meade. trafic will be far over an hour one way.

if you want convenience to work with not a horrible drive to night life. Look farther away from Dc closer to Meade. You can even go west of Dc towards Upper Marlbro.

Laurel, Jessup, Crofton, Odenton, Bowie are the more cheaper areas as well as convenience to both areas.

Bethesta is recommended also but I haven't been there except to the Va hospital.
