I am a broke med student planning on doing a 2 month clinical rotation at Washington Adventist Hospital (7600 Carroll Avenue,Takoma Park, MD 20912).

I have never lived at DC, and don't know where to even begin looking for places to stay near WAH?! I'll be on my own, with no car (can't drive and afford one even if I did),so living within close proximity to public transport is a must.Other preferences include:

Budget: $ 225-400 max
Sharing: Yes ( 2-3 students if need be)
Public transport proximity: SUPER important, safe location
other factors (entertainment,airport proximity): Insignificant

Any pointers will be appreciated!

Raised that budget to $450-$500 and you may be able to find a room in Takoma Park or Silver Spring on a bus line. Do some research on craigslist.

I don't think a place like that exists. I agree with ChocCity, you should raise your budget and check on Craigslist. I searched for cheap, furnished, shared houses when I was an intern and it was hard to find anything that cheap and nothing acceptable (ie, clean, safe and not too far from a metro or bus line) for under $700 (incl utilities).
