Question My phone company have gone - SunRocket VoIP

Hi, on Monday I found out SunRocket - my internet phone company went out of business !! However, I quickly got on the internet and foound a replacement and so started a blog to tell people all about Internet phones - as it is very cheap and useful.

Has anyone else had the same problem in DC ?

Ups with Vonage:
-fixed fee per month, no matter how long on the phone you stay.
-You can call anywhere in the US.
-As long as you have reliable internet (cable or DSL), the quality is literally crystal-clear.
-Easy to install, easy to use
-Obvious low price. The 500 min/month plan is only 15 bucks a month. For the unlimited plan, its only 30 dollars a month.
-All the perks: Voicemail, call waiting, anything you can think of that phone companies charge you up the anus for are free with Vonage. Additionally, they'll even forward messages people leave on your answering machine in the form of a wav file to your email.

Downs with Vonage:
-If your internet goes out, you're kinda screwed.
-If your power goes out, you're kinda screwed.
-If you use a lot of bandwidth( you like to download movies, etc), the quality may be kinda crappy
-Not recommended with dialup

Some people are worried about 911 calls with Vonage but that has since been fixed.

You may consider T-Mobile & their HotSpot@Home service. It allows your cell phone to make/receive unlimited calls from anywhere in the US using a WiFi hotspot. Its $10 a month.

Look at it like a VOIP phone that can go anywhere! Even if you're overseas, calls back to the states are still free as long as you're on WiFi.
