Soulless is a good description of D.C.
Full of soulless yuppy trash that are nothing but parasites on the human spirit. There is only one good reason to be here and everyone knows it, money. We're all suckling at the federal teat as the government funnels money from the useful and productive areas of the country into this soulless void of sham contractors and corrupt politicians. |

I've lived around the country and around the world and believe me when I tell you the ONLY reason to live anywhere near D.C. is the jobs and money. That's all. |

Yes leave! Please! Get out of here. Then you can go to the next city's folder and complain about the mean people, costs, traffic, etc. As if DC is the only place that has these things. Sheesh!

Calm down and at least try to be objective. Parasites on human spirit ? sociopaths ? Do you really think anyone will treat your post serious after statements like these ?
Yac. |

quote] I'm no fan of DC but that's not fair at all. I pretty much agree with everything else although there are some nice folks on Cap Hill where I live that make eye contact and offer a "good morning" so all is not lost. There are nice people here too, but they aren't the boring suburban government drones who metro in from Vienna, nor are they the self important newbie lawyers from Kansas that think they are top dawg because they're in the "big city" now. I can't believe I'm saying this and I really don't like it here but objectivity can do wonders for one's attitude. ![]() |

That is the extent of my objectivity regarding D.C. and the surrounding suburbs.

Being a culture freak and needing an art fix frequently, DC was heaven on earth for almost 12 years; I only left to change professions. I would go to Baltimore when depressed, especially in rotten weather, and after a day there and Fells Point, I always felt right grounded. Baltimore has some kind of spirit DC could never have - it's a different function. Also, DC has a master-slave mentality - it's all mind games. Well over half of the "master" players are losers that couldn't function in any other setting. The real class is a riot and actually makes up a pretty small circle of people - same parties, same galas, same restaurants - The nicest people I found in the District were the Afro-Ams that lived in DC for generations - some of the classiest people around. If you move to Baltimore, you do so for Baltimore - a daily commute would be hell...Try Annapolis, that place always seemed real livable.

Sums it up for me, pretty much, too.
