I always put a disclaimer saying that I know not all people act a certain way. It doesn't help....

Despite everything I still say that the DC area is a great place to be young gifted and black. There are so many educated black folks here it can boggle the mind for someone not used to seeing it. Also I still get way fewer "why do you talk so white" comments here than I did down home in Georgia. I remember years ago (back home) I thought I was going to go off on this girl that kept making comments about my pattern of speech and the music I listen to. I was at work so I kept my composure but it was tough let me tell ya. That NEVER happens at the office now. At my job black co-workers are few and far, but the ones that I do work with are not going to have commentary about my speech patterns or even come close to implying that I'm a "sell out".

You just implied that if black upper class folks started moving to Potomac in mass that crime would skyrocket. Anyone who can afford to live in Potomac doesn't have time to commit crimes. You put in the little disclaimers then make offensive remarks like putting something in parenthesis makes it all okay. You make provocative offensive comments then act all innocent when people react.

Don't get me wrong. My circle is pretty big and covers every socio-demographic area. Now, I went to an Historically Black College and pledged a BGLO so most of the people I hang with are educated black professionals but I can be cool with anyone, as long as they have their mind right. I have plenty of friends in the hood, who never went to college but are trying to do the right thing and hold it down.

But how is that any less racist than another poster saying that he hopes DC attracts more middle class black residents?

Even he admitted it sounded racist. Why aren't you jumping on his back????

There's a difference between wanting more middle class black folks and claiming that having a black presence in a neighborhood alone causes crime.

Jmus,
You once said that wish DC would attract more gay guys so it could be like DC. That was discrimination, was it not?

It's a beautiful neighborhood, but perhaps it's more diverse than actually integrated.

Yeah, that is peculiar. That's one thing about C-D...you can take a few pics and make an area appear to be anything you want it to be. If I didn't know this was Crestwood, I would have assumed it was Bethesda or somewhere west of the Park.

Not true. They violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, RICO, the mail and wire fraud statutes, the Sherman and Clayton Acts, and the Securities Acts of '33 and '34 every single day.
