You are comparing two different phenomonens.

They are two different circumstances, but they fall under my point that the two groups can and have shown to be willing to be tolerant of each other's presence within the same community.

You cannot say that White people are repelled by Black neighbors, only to affirm cases of White people moving into traditionally Black neighborhoods, with the foreknowledge that they're likely to have Black neighbors. Granted, different circumstances leading to the community unision of the two, but the outcome is the same.

The community doesn't stand in "unison" for long with gentrification most black renters are priced out, black homeowners can hang on for awhile until either the property taxes drive them out or they simply cash out.

Capitol Hill, Georgetown were all Black neighborhoods at one point

The white neighborhood with $80K will be infinitely more valued than the 85% black neighborhood. Nobody wants to live in a city with an 85% black population; regardless if income. Just the way it is!

Exactly, people act like racism isn't occurring. I would * love* to see the reactions of Potomac residents with well to do blacks moving in.

The Crestwood community is a glaring counter example to your hypothesis.

Mike Tyson lived in Potomac there are also quite a few doctors and the like who are Black. I suspect when you get to this level of income race doesn't come into play it's much more a matter of class and adopting neighborhood mores.

Besides you hardly would have much interaction with your neighbors anyway in these type of neighborhoods.

More whining about racism. Yes, it exists. Yes, it's bad. But why do you care? Do you need the unwavering approval of members from every different ethnic group to help you validate your own worth? If your White neighbors dislike you or don't want you around, that's their trip -- none of that is going to prevent you from achieving success or happiness, so in the end what does it matter what they think of you?

100% agree Seagoat, my point is simply call it like it is. If people don't like blacks living next door just say it and don't beat around the bush.

Like the term "gentrification" lol we all know what it means, just say it.

There are wealthy black people who move to Potomac and you don't see people coming out in Klan robes. Do you think a bunch of rich white people are going to start a fit if Oprah Winfrey or Colin Powell moves next to them? Mike Tyson might not be the best example since I could imagine reasons not living next to him other than his race but the rich white people in Potomac aren't straight up Archie Bunker clones. My uncle lives in Potomac and is South American and a retired ambassador. He's as dark skinned as George Lopez but incredibly wealthy, he's never complained about neighbors lighting crosses on his lawn or treating him poorly. The upper class sees green more than skin color.
