Thinking of re-locating for a job. We would be selling our house in Columbus.

Would be working downtown at M and 15th.

We would be wanting to live somewhere close to Metro, prefferbly in the city.

Would be making $110K, then when my wife finds a job around $160k or so.

We have no kids and would be going down to 1 car or maybe even no cars.

We know rent will be very steep but do not want to be apartment poor.

Any neighborhood and/or apartment suggestions?

The answer totally depends on the size of your rental budget.
Also, what kind of neighborhood do you like? How busy? How much nightlife? Large apartment buildings or rowhouses? etc etc

Yes, a little bit more info is needed to get good answers. But it sounds like you may want to start looking in the Logan Circle area. It's walking distance to to where you'll work and a nice neighborhood with great restaurants, cafes, grocery store, etc and has lots of different housing options.

I did the CMH to DCA move 7 years ago. If you'd like some specific thoughts/perspectives/recommendations, feel free to PM me and I'd be happy to help.

If you are going to live in DC, I would look into Dupont area or Woodley Park/Clevland Park area. These are nice areas and when you step out all the bars and restuarants are at your door.

With $160K a year you would easily get by in DC, you dont really need a car in DC unless you will being driving to VA or MD and even if you do you can always rent the Zip Cars in DC.
