FYI, Professional Black Women in the DMV greatly outnumber Professional Black Men in the area. So if you looking to get married soon, keep an open mind.

She said earlier that she's open to interracial dating. Why do people assume that when anyone black posts on these boards that they only want to be around other blacks? The assumptions need to stop!

I agree with you but to be fair anytime someone mentions their race there is always an assumption that they want to be around other people of their race. That was cleared up later though. But let's just say for argument's sake, if the op never brought up that she is black, do you think any of those statements would be made? Just a thought.

I'm a black woman, and I brought up my race on an Austin thread I started when I was considering moving there. I only brought it up because I don't want to worry about dealing with prejudice, racism, and drama. The same thing happened there - people assumed I only wanted to date black men, only wanted to be around black people, only wanted to listen to "black" music (whatever constitutes as "black"), and so forth. Assumptions, assumptions, assumptions!

Doesnt make the statement any less true. Again, they are telling her correct, but the end of that sentence clearly states to KEEP AN OPEN MIND. I take that to mean explore all options.

You are far more likely to get slack for being a white person in a black neighborhood, than a black person in a white neighborhood. Just sayin'...but keep playin the victim card all you want....

Says the guy who hates black people, thinks we're all "thugs" and "hoodrats" and thinks we're all identical. Oh, lord have mercy.

She never said that until I made a post, just as an FYI.. Excuse a brother for simply sharing a tidbit...

I agree. I mean if you don't give details, the only thing people can do is assume. We aren't mind readers on here, if you say you are black and that's it, are we supposed to have ESP and assume you are open to interracial dating or assume that you strictly want to date black men? Unless someone specifically states that, no one will know. This is the internet, not a conversation with your kinfolks people. We don't know you!

An even better thing to do, if you don't know the full deal about something, is to ask.

If I tell you that I want to move somewhere to date, if I do not disclose that I'm open to dating other races, is that my fault for not mentioning it or your fault for not asking? Who's trying to get the information? If you're coming on here to look for information and you need helpful information, wouldn't it make more sense for you to give detail so that people won't assume instead of ASSUMING that people won't assume?
