Hey everyone !
I'm looking for a safe neighbourhood in washington which is close to bethesda and isnt expensive.
I'm going for an internship to a university in bethesda and it'll be my 1st time in America! So i'll need to find a place which is in washington and isnt that far from bethesda.
If ya'll know some place. Do let me know
Thanks a bunch !!
I'd look in Rockville. It's a nice area, on the Red Line, just north of Bethesda, and is generally much more affordable than bethesda or anything in upper northwest DC near Bethesda.
I honestly don't mind Bethesda either. But from what i gathered after searching is that Bethesda is really expensive and its kinda tough to find people willing to share an apartment. I wouldn't be taking an entire apartment to myself cause that'd shoot the cost up. So was wondering if Washington would be a better choice. I've heard Washington is kinda cheap. At least compared to Bethesda. I'll definitely check out Rockville. If you have any other safe and less costly places close to Bethesda, do let me know !
Thanks a bunch guys !
What is your monthly budget for rent? I will say that "cheap," "safe" and "D.C. area" don't belong in the same sentence. Look into Rockville and Silver Spring and do plenty of research.

uhm, around 500-700$ a month for a room for rent. Don't actually want an entire apartment as such!
I'll check silver spring and rockville out!
DC proper is not cheap, especially anywhere near Bethesda. So I'm sorry to say you were misinformed. You could also check the American University / Tenleytown area and Friendship Heights on craigslist.org for a group house. You might find something for $600-$800 with students or recent grads.
My only caution against Silver Spring is you won't be able to use the Metro very easily to get to Bethesda because of how the lines are designed, though buses do run.

Oh !
How much would the cost be in silver spring or rockville?
And also in places like capitol heights, potomac, chevy chase, gaithersburg ?
Capitol Heights is not the best place. Potomac is expensive and generally just big mansions, not apartments. Chevy Chase is also expensive although there are some decently-priced apartments that you could afford with roommates. Gaithersburg is cheaper but you'll probably want a car.
Not a good area and more importantly nowhere near Bethesda.
