I'm having the hardest time finding a sublet for me and my partner. We only need a place to stay for a month or two and want to spend around 1000 dollars a month. I'm finding plenty of people offering a room in a house etc for this range in ok neighborhoods but getting no bites. I am assuming its just very competitive and many people just want one person but how does a couple find a place? Any advice? We don't need much. A small room in a house would be just fine but craigslist and other sources don't seem to be working.

Have you tried putting up a room wanted ad on craigslist in addition to answering room for rent ads? Also for a $1000 you might want to consider renting a basement that's what I'm doing versus just a bedroom. I'm renting a 25 wide room for $850 but I'm in the burbs though. So you have to take everything into consideration.

But yeah the fact that you're a couple is going to present hurdles unfortunately. Just keep at it. I hate to say it but finding a room for rent is the worst at the beginning of the month. Landlords and roommates are pickier about who they rent their room out to. That's what happened the last time I moved. I had to be out on the 31st and I didn't find my current place until the 27th. Stressful to say the least.

But yeah put up an ad yourselves. You should get some bites.
