I like Stan's in downtown DC. I don't care if I am the only white dude in the whole place. The drinks are S.T.R.O.N.G. and the prices are not bad.

I've been to one of the BBP poetry sessions and it was pretty cool. The thing is though that the place fills up QUICK. If it says 7:30, you probably should show up at 6:30

Thanks for your replies. I was looking for something lounge-ish (lacking a better word). Does Bus Boys have poetry every night? Also, any suggestions for Sunday night?

I want to try Stan's because apparently they make their drinks strong. How badly will I stick out being not-black?

I was at 18th Street Lounge, and it reminded me of a late spot in New York called Nell's. ESL has a great atmosphere, and highly diverse!

That is my fav currently. I am there every wednesday for regee night! Marvins and Patty Boom Boom get the nod too.

Park is still a double thumbs down (unless you want to YBP pose). But honestly you can have a great time anywhere, its all on you.

Maybe it was just a "right" night, but I hit up Park with some co-workers after our Holiday party in December and had a surprisingly good time. The drinks were weak and they will milk you for you dollar at every corner, but the music was decent, the place not over-crowded and was filled with seriously good looking women.

I'm simply not into the loud music and drinking.
