Yes, the US lost to one of the best national teams in the world, if not the best, after going on a long winning streak and beating several good teams. Shameful! We should call it quits and stick to American Football, and thus win by default since no one cares about it. USA! USA! USA!

I disagree with the defeatist attitude. America has definitely made a lot of progress, but there is still a long way to go. The overall culture here is just so different. In places like Brazil or Argentina, it's soccer and nothing else. While here there's football, basketball, baseball, etc.

In America a kid grows up(in a perfect setting) watching seasame street, going to chuck e cheese, constantly asking the teacher "is it recess time yet??" while in Brazil... those kids have it much different... it's either soccer or whatever bad news the streets have in store for them. For a lot of those kids, soccer is life because there is nothing else.

Even when you go over to Europe, there soccer is actually a part of the school curriculum. It's studied like you would in a science class. Here in America, soccer is just another sport you do after school

Actually basketball is getting very popular in Brazil, and the schools I have seen have basketball courts...
