That's not the first time that's happened. I remember reading a story about a Sprint employee who got fired for tracking down a robber who stole a purse off of some lady.
The company always gives some bull**** excuse about how it's company policy and there's usually something about insurance thrown into the mix for good measure.
Anyway yeah, Walgreens should have given the guy a raise, not a termination.
I'm curious as to why you could specifically "see this happening in DC"? What about this particular story makes it unique to DC? If anything, because it took place in rural Michigan it would seem more appropriate to say "I can see this happening anywhere."
"To pharmacist Jeremy Hoven, it was a prescription for trouble. So he filled it with hot lead."
LOL!!! That's hilarious.
But in all seriousness, his response to the situation was not proportionate. First off, who carries their own gun to work? Second, he could have killed innocent bystanders. Third, the robbers weren't trying to kill him. They just wanted money. In that situation, you give the robbers the money and hit the silent alarm. You don't open fire on them. What an idiot. He deserved to be fired.

I guess you didn't watch the video. The robber jumped over the counter and tried to shoot him at point blank range in the head. He should sue Walgreen's for maintaining an unsafe work environment.
The only thing he did wrong was miss. He should have shot both of their azzez in the head.
After thinking about this a little bit, it depends on why he got fired. If he got fired because of the robbery incident, then yes this is nonsense, but if he was fired for bring a firearm to work then I can kind of see the point.
I mean thinking as if I'm the Walgreens CEO, the last thing you would want is your employees walking around with guns on their hips. How would this look to customers? At the same time if there is a perceived problem at this store, then why not hire security?
We don't need a bunch of pharmacists going Rambo. Their job is to count the pills.
