Hello. I hope someone can chime in and be of help. My wife and I are from SF, CA...Relocated and live in Dallas, TX. We are not happy with the professional, black crowd (almost impossible to find) not to mention the lack of normalcy for black lesbians in general.
Question to the locals would be where is a great living area for an older black lesbian couple who are no longer into the club scene but rather being comfortable and enjoying life with all races?
It doesn't really matter in the Washington area. Just find a neighborhood that you like and can afford. Nobody cares if you're a lesbian.
I concur. Dupont is the gay downtown but it's so gosh darn expensive these days most gay people can't afford to live there. I'm gay and I sure as hell can't afford Dupont unless I marry well haha. Just find a nice neighborhood within your price.
Actually because you don't like the nightlife I would NOT recommend Dupont or U street. Those are the rowdiest parts of DC.

Not true, there are plenty of places, mostly in PG county, that are full of bible thumping southern baptists that will talk crap behind your back if you are homo or bi. I mean priests from PG county were pretty outspoken when the gay marriage vote came. Otherwise you are right.

This is largely true - most people don't care - especially in the city - but it's still a very different vibe than what they'd find in SF. Not sure how similar the OP hopes DC will be to SF - but it's not very similar. There's a sort of relaxed, more accepting/integrated (not just tolerant) attitude and lifestyle possible in SF that just doesn't happen en masse in DC. *IMO*

Yes but I don't think a nice lesbian couple who don't like nightlife have as much to worry about in Prince George's county (newcomers might not know the local lingo yet y'all) than say Texas. One of the best gay pool parties I've been to was in a nice subdivision in Upper Marlboro. I would imagine the neighbors cared more about the lack of parking than anything else. With that said no Prince George's (PG) county wouldn't be on the top of my list. Really and truly it comes down to place of employment than anything else. The traffic is horrible here and everyone wants that short commute.
Ladies if you're not in the know PG county I guess is where the majority of black folks in the DC area live. It's got everything. Run down hoods and gated communities with million dollar houses but it's mostly black suburbs.
So yeah just move to a nice place.
