Default Finding proximity to Metro

One more question...

I'm noticing lots of complexes advertise themselves as being within walking distance to a Metro stop, when in reality they're a mile or two away. Is there any online resource that allows you to see the closest apartments in an area of DC to a Metro stop... or am I expecting too much?

If you check the station maps under the WMATA website, some buildings are shown: Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority

Another option is to look in an ADC map. Based on the building's address, you'll see how close it is to the metro stop.

It may be a several step annoying process, but every Metro station has an address, and you can then go to Mapquest and type in the apartment complex's address and then the Metro station's address to see the distance between the two.

You might want to pick up a copy of the Apartment Showcase , the blue apartment guides, apartmentshowcase.com. These are usually scattered throughout the Metro area in newspaper stands.

They have a section that lists all the apartments in their guide, the nearest metro stop and if it is within walking distance. I'm not sure if this is available online, but I do know the books have this guide.

You can do a search in google maps for said address, then click on the 'find businesses' tab. Enter in "metro station", and a bunch of metro stations in proximity to your address will pop up.
