Just wanting to start a potentially interesting thread on the DC neighborhoods. Specifically, if someone were interested in a walkable and vibrant neighborhood like dupont, georgetown, etc but didn't have $4k/month to spend on a 2BD where should they look. What DC neighborhoods do you think are the best bang for the buck? Feel free to give me your top 3 or 5.
I've read some things about the Atlas District and it sounds promising, but was wondering what other areas should be considered for someone needing a 2 BD. If utilities are included then monthly rent can be around $2,500, if not then monthly rent should probably be around $2,200.
This doesn't have to be limited to DC neighborhoods, the only areas I know of in NoVA that are similar would be the areas around the Courthouse/Clarendon metros. Probably difficult to get a 2 BD in that price range there. I'm not familiar with MD so I can't comment.
1. Bloomingdale/Eckington
2. Petworth/Pleasant Plains
3. SW DC
Honorable mention: Mt. Ranier, various parts of the Rhode Island Ave. corridor, Columbia Pike in Arlington.
