Trump is in talks with multiple retail store's to fill his hotel including Tiffany's and Gucci. City Center D.C. has 295,000 square feet of retail to fill. The Conrad hotel (example: http://conradhotels3.hilton.com/en/hotels/uae/conrad-dubai-DXBCDCI/index.html) is being built in City Center Phase two and will have a two floor department store (rumored to be Bloomingdales). The FBI headquarters could be the next City Center D.C. type project. Looks like downtown D.C. is about to finally fill the void it has been missing. Thoughts?
Sounds incredible! As Downtown D.C. continues to re-invent and expand itself, it's only fitting that a magnificent jewel like the Old Post Office Building is included in this grand master plan! I'm also really thankful that the observation deck will remain public too. This will be great! And a Conrad Hotel at City Center!?!? I spent two days at the Conrad New York last October! I can only imagine how phenomenal and granduer a Conrad Washington will look like! Leggo DC!
Trying to imagine how this level of retail survives on Pa. Avenue, with terrible-to-no parking options and dead sidewalks during most of the day. What vacationing tourist is going to be dropping bills at Tiffany's on a whim???

I mean, they're replacing a giant parking lot with a small city's-worth of people at a metro-accessible location, so I don't think foot traffic is going to be a problem for the new retail. I'll go there before I trek to Friendship Heights for my holiday shopping.

Dead sidewalks? What are you talking about? I can barely walk through the hoards most days. And, bikes are the new cars downtown.
In retrospect, it might not have been the best choice of wording for the title of this thread.
Really? Why?
