marc questions
So that my wife and I can consider moving to various areas...I'm mostly taking a survey.
What are the MARC travel times from end-to-end on the various lines (Brunswick, Camden, Penn)?
What speed does the train usually travel?
Do most stations actually have ENOUGH parking to drive there and park?

I use Metro but my coworker rides on the Camden line from Laurel. For the most part, she enjoys the commute. The trains run pretty regularly, though there are service interruptions on occassion. Unlike Metro, the MARC trains don't run throughout the day, so you may need to make a back-up plan if you need to get home in emergencies.

Marc
I take MARC from Laurel (Camden line, Muirkirk Road) to Union Station every M - F. I don't know how long the ride is from Baltimore, but as someone stated before, the MTA website should tell you that. MARC is great. Much prefer it to Metro. Only thing I don't like is that the trains only run every 45 - 50 minutes, at least on the Camden line, so if you miss one, you wait a long time. Trains are seldom late more than 5 minutes, conductors are great, seats are comfy. Can eat and drink and there's a bathroom. Overall a pretty good deal on prices, too, especially if you buy a monthly ticket.
I think the Penn line trains run a few mid-day trains, but as poster before said, Camden doesn't. However, if I know I need to leave mid-day I just switch to another mode of transportation for a day.

I take the Penn line from Penn to Union Station. takes about an hour- 50 min for express. from Penn you can get a train every 30 min or less in morning & evening hours. I always get parking in Penn but have to pay $12 a day. West Baltimore fills up pretty quick and I haven't even tried. Haletheorpe is another good option to get free parking if you could drive there. I'm not sure about BWI but it has a GIANT parking structure. I'm sure you'll get parking there. Penn works out good for me because even in rush hours I get a good seat, it's a nice station. plenty of waiting area. If you get a place within walking distance of Penn station it'll be the best.
