Greetings,

I got accepted to a master program in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in GTU. I can barely afford the tuition for this program :/ so I'm looking for a really cheap cheap place.
Do you think I can find a room to rent for 300$ or less that is close to this campus?

Thanks!

In a word: No. My estimate would be that in a shared house or apartment with roommates located in a safe neighborhood anywhere not super far from Georgetown, it's going to be very hard if not impossible to find any rent below $500 a month. Even $500 a month would be pretty difficult to find. $700 to $900 more realistic.

That's going to be just about impossible with the scenario you laid out. Maybe you might be able to find someone to share a room undergrad-style, but I think that's pretty unusual/uncommon around here. Even qualifying for housing assistance or low-income housing is still going to be way more than $300.

Honestly, if things are that tight money-wise, I'd be investigating all of your financial aid options or, sadly, maybe looking into another grad program. I don't know where Georgetown ranks in biochem for masters programs, but I know it's a great school overall, and if you were accepted there chances are that you have a few other options available to you.
