I wonder how many of those white children will be enrolled in DC Public Schools. Me thinks the white parents have enough $$$$$ for the private schools.

It will be interesting to see if the families are still here when the kids are school-aged. As someone who grew up in a urban environment I like that others are seeing the value of staying in the city.
We've got a bunch of young families starting out in my neighborhood. I think every third house has a baby on my street, and I think there will be a few more in the next 5 years. I'm definitely seeing the baby boom.
All of the young families in my neighborhood are closely watching the progress of DC public schools. I think the broad consensus is that they want to stay in DC, but if the schools/options don't improve they'll prioritize their kids' education over staying in DC.
And here I thought it was just my group of friends. It's surprising how many babies you see in Adams Morgan (of all places).
In the article on the Post they mention that families with older kids still tend to move out due to the school situation. That said, since the "boom" is more recent, there may be enough of a "critical mass" that it could potentially affect the schools in DC over time. As someone who lives in DC and would like to have kids in about 6-10 years, I'd selfishly love if today's babies/parents have a noticeable impact.
Those families are actually what is going to turn DC schools around. Their kids will go to public school and they will join the PTA and become active. See what's happening on Capitol Hill.
One question is how white (or non-black) a school has to be before white parents will consider sending their children there.
Very.
I wouldn't call this a boom at all. Wake me up when these kids are still in DC public schools in 4th grade.
