This may be competitive, wegmans is also interested. I rather have the wegmans. There is also a harris teeter planned right down the street on the border of silver spring. The Shepard Park/Takoma area is basically going to be hot soon.

I question how good of a market that is for Whole Food. Not to mention the location.

Shepard Park and Takoma have high average household incomes, $100K+. Brightwood is not as great, but even that is changing. There will also be people coming from Petworth/16th Street heights which is a very short bus ride. Taking the reputation for both Shepard and Takoma (Granolaville), it is not surprising they signed up rapidly. Plus people would kill for a better option than the local Safeway. They are looking at the demographics and income, they are wanting in for a reason. Same with the others.
Though with the one in silver spring so close...it is curious.

"Shepard Park and Takoma have high average household incomes, $100K+" what is that mean? What is the focus group for Whole Foods? Not public perception, but corporate brand strategy. I don't think I've ever read anybody actually write honestly about it.
