You will often here words like Ghetto etc. when people refer to these crowds. We could be in the White House and people would make the same comment.
Well there is black people and then there is "urban black" people.

Its one thing to say I'm uncomfortable because everyone is "ghetto" and its another to say I'm uncomfortable because everyone is "black". And its a whole other thing to assume black and ghetto are interchangeable words. But that's how they are often used.

Maybe in certain sections of the city but DC is still 50% Black, this whiteover thing is greatly exaggerated primarily by the media.

Well it's not just about the current reality, it's also about the direction. Eventually most poor blacks will be priced out of the city. I have no doubts. The 50% will eventually become something like 20%. Housing prices determine who lives where. People with money increasingly want to live in urban locations. The people with money to spend always take top priority.

dcnative6, you act like encroachment is not real.
lots of people are getting nervous. i don't blame
you for having pride in your city but it's not a
game. just look around. the pen is mightier than
the sword and the people are getting exxed off the
scene, man. it's just straight like that. I really
don't know what the majority in dc can do about it.
If I had a good answer, I'd know.

For those not aware, this is an argument from the City vs City (or Gen U.S., I forget).

I think it's pretty obvious for anyone who has spent even a little bit of time out in DC that DC is a city with joints appealing to many different cultures. Even a place like Lucky Bar* can do a cultural 180 on certain nights--going from a GT/GW Frat Bar to a Hispanic-dominated futbol bar on other nights.

*I can't stand being in lucky bar on most nights, but it's a good example.

Lucky Bar & Lucky Strike are two completely different places.
One is a midget sized bar with thrift store fashion decor, and the other one is a neo-cosmic bowling alley.
There is clearly a huge difference between the two.

Lucky Bar was formerly known as Planet Fred and is one of the oldest bars still remaining in DC.

Yeah, I know. I was talking about Lucky Bar. I bet it'd be a wonderful place to get a drink if the crowd was different (no clue what it's like when soccer is playing because the line is so long).

Recess
Marvin

And the list goes on and on. Plus, there the Go-Gos that draw thousands on any given night. This dwarfs the amount of non-black nightlife in the city, no?
The type of white people in DC aren't really club-goers. These are the type of places packed full of white people on weekend nights:

American Ice Co.
Satellite
Barcelona
Blackjack
The Red Derby
Jimmy Valentine's Lonely Hearts Club
DC Reynolds
Little Miss Whiskey's Golden Dollar
Room 11
Hogo
Dodge City
The Raven
The Gibson
Bar Pilar
St Ex
The Saloon
The Big Hunt
Queen Vic
Wonderland
Jack Rose
The Pug
El Centro
DC9
Bourbon
Black Cat Red Room
Solly's

Cork
Biergarten Haus
Kangaroo Boxing Club
