Yes, Yes, Yes. Its by silver spring, has some of the best schools in the city. I live in Takoma, which is right across Georgia Ave. from Shepard Park. I could not recommend Shepard Park and Colonial Village enough. Takoma, Shepard Park, and Colonial Village remain a hidden gem in the city.
Only downside is the walk to the Takoma or Silver Spring Metro is a bit longer. But its a great neighborhood.
(On a side note, Shepard Park/Colonial Village have the better elementary school.)
It's spelled Shepherd Park and it is a quiet, safe, kid friendly neighborhood, with a very nice higher end housing stock. Some disruption will undoubtedly come from the base repurposing at the old Walter Reed, but the upside will be better future shopping in the area.

All very old stable neighborhoods, safe, good schools, beautiful homes and landscape. Close to Silver Spring metro (Colonial Village is closer), a bit of a walk though. This part of upper NW is consistent. I would highly recommend any and all these neighborhoods. Colonial Village is probably more pricey as it butts up against Rock Creek Park.
They are also more expensive, at least Crestwood is.
There is a lot of overlap in prices, but people buying in Colonial Village aren't bottom feeders. People willing to pay Colonial Village prices will like what they see in Crestwood. 16th Street Heights is less homogeneous, but offer some really nice choices too.
