Hey guys, I just had a few questions for those familiar with the parking garage at DCUSA in CH.
1. I am thinking of parking my car there since they had really cheap monthly rates compared to any other garages I could find. Is the garage easily accessible for anyone who wants to get in or is there some sort of security? Does it close late at night or is it always open for anyone to access without going through some sort of checkpoint? Is the place generally safe? If not, do you guys have any other recommendations?
2. I am also only in DC for two months because of school. Would I have to get the ROSA permit (I believe that is what it is called) or would be ok not to since I technically won't be parking on the streets overnight? I checked out the DC DMV site but that proved very unhelpful...
Thanks for your help. Initially I did not want to either, but I will be traveling out of the DC metro area often on weekends, and so it would be more convenient for me to have a car.
The parking garage at DC USA is closed from 1am - 5am. I believe this is because there aren't any apartments/condos in the complex. The garage feels safe to me and I've seen security most of the times I'm there. I don't think you should have any trouble leaving your car there for extended periods of time.
If you plan on leaving you're car in a garage most of the time, don't bother getting a ROSA permit. I've never seen or heard of a meter maid writing tickets/warnings in a garage. And even if you have to park on the street, I wouldn't bother since you're only here for 2 months. Technically, you could get a warning if the parking enforcement people notice your car on the street for 30 straight days, but that's a small risk. If you do happen to get a warning/notice, just head to the DMV the next day/week and apply for the ROSA exemption.
