Good. Time to lower taxes and destroy all of those traffic cameras.

For those of us who live in DC, we also pay income taxes. With that being said the higher tax rate never bothered me. Also more people means there is an increased need for services. So there is no need to lower taxes. There are so many basic infrastructure repairs and improvements needed in this city, the gas pipes, sidewalks, etc. It is time to reinvest in the city not cut taxes.

Also I have no issues with those speed and traffic cameras.

I know all about our income taxes. Who lowers income taxes though? Property taxes are usually the type of taxes that go up or down so I assumed that is what that poster was talking about.

The property taxes do not bother me...and you are right, comparitively they are low. That is largely DC goes with a progressive income tax instead.

But this is a slower rate of growth than what we have been seeing. Is DC beginning to slow down?

It is interesting that the July 2013 estimate for DC was revised upward so much - from 646,449 to 649,111. That means that DC gained 14,071 between July 2012 and July 2013 instead of the 13,022 that was previously reported for the same period last year. That's a mighty strong numerical increase for DC.

Similarly, this year's estimate of 658,893 could very well be revised upward with next year's update like in every prior estimate thus far since 2010.

The numbers today revealed DC's domestic migration levels had decreased but international migration to the city has increased. Both Maryland and Virginia have a negative net domestic migration while DC has positive domestic migration.
