Is there nightlife in Barrack's Row, enough to support, say, a beer garden?

During the day on the weekends, it's great, Eastern Market and all, but does the area support nightlife? Do people generally venture out during the week, at night for dining and drinking?

It's very busy at night, especially on the weekends. A few years ago it used to be pretty quiet at night but they have since opened up a lot of stuff. I think it would be an ideal location for something like a beer garden.
I'd say it's actually busier at night than during the day on the weekend because the Eastern Market is a few blocks away on 7th St. That area becomes dead at night once the market is closed, and Barracks Row livens up.
I've been living very close for almost a decade so I have seen the area transform firsthand.

I would say yes. Barrack's is a great place and I think a beer garden would be an excellent idea. You'd have the hill staffers for happy hour and all the tourists and locals on weekends. Plus, if you add a free shuttle to the stadium during games like the Ugly Mug does (golf cart with additional seating) you'd clean up.

I think there is enough support in most neighborhoods to support a beer garden, and Barracks Row is already a pretty decent destination for foot traffic and night life. Who doesn't like drinking beer outside?

A beer garden would do very well in this area, lots of foot traffic, residents from eastern market, capital hill, and navy yard all regular this street.

As others have pointed out, there's a lot of evening traffic thanks to the numerous restaurants.

"The Brig" beer garden at 8th & L, just south of I-395, expects to open this summer: The Brig Beer Garden Past News Items - JDLand.com / Near Southeast DC

It's right between the Barracks and the Navy Yard's main gate, so I imagine it'll be quite popular at happy hour.
