Default 1344 Independ. ave-Is it safe?

Planning on spring vacation to DC. Family w/ 3 kids, so we prefer a condo over a Hotel. Is 1344 Independ Ave safe enough to reach the metro and stay for a week? We'll have a car, but prefer to leave it and just use the metro. Not sure if parking will be tough.

I assume you mean SE, because if it were SW you'd be near the Mall .

I haven't been in that specific area too often, but it's near Lincoln Park and I found that area pleasant when I went there. It's also near Stadium Armory Station (Blue/Orange Lines). Someone who has more experience with the area or who lives in the area would be of a better help to you.

Yes, It's S.E. 2 Blocks from Lincoln Park. Nearest Metro stop looks like it's about 4 blocks down 14th St SE (Potomac Ave stop).
Thanks

It would depend on what your standards are. In a gross over-simplification, the area west of Lincoln Park is very nice, and what's to the east is progressively somewhat less desirable. 13th Street (i.e., the east side of the park) is sort of the imaginary dividing line at the moment, but it keeps moving eastward. The area just southeast of the Park where this unit is would be perfectly fine for someone accustomed to urban living, but I would recommend as far as a Metro connection goes, that it might be better to walk southwest along South Carolina Ave to reach the Eastern Market station. It isn't much different in distance, but it would be a nicer walk, and there are a lot of interesting restaurants and such down 8th Street just south of the EM station along Barracks Row. The Potomac Avenue station by contrast is actually in a still somewhat shady area, although it too has gotten quite a bit better over the past few years...
