So tired of the obsession with race in this country.

Most issues are more related to class and economics than race. Yet we constantly focus on race.

This is what happens when you let your 5 year old run a "study."

Let's do some basic economics:
1. Living near Metro is more expensive
2. Whites tend to earn more in the DC Area and in the US (they also tend to be more educated as well as other things that make people earn more money)
3. SHOCKING that there's more whites near Metro!!

A professional study done by someone with a brain would control for outside factors like INCOME. Probably education too.

My stats professors would have had a field day with this idiotic study.

Who cares? Is this an obvious race bait thread?

Boo hoo, minorities have to live farther from the metro? Really?

The sad problem here is that racism and classism are very comfortable bedfellows in this country.

The problem is people are obsessed with race and tend to make racial issues out of things that are really economic, cultural and class issues.

American's have been stuck on stupid for along time though. So no surprise.

I didn't read the article, but there would be more black people living near Metro stations, if the Prince Georges County government had had the foresight to invite more transit oriented development (like Arlington has, for instance). PGC really dropped the ball on this.

At present, most metro stations in P.G. County are surrounded by just parking lots, with few office buildings or apartments. This is discussed at times, on forums like this one Greater Greater Washington

This is at the core of the problem, PG county is decades behind the rest of the region in terms of modern development standards. MoCo and Arlington doubled down on TOD, PG on the other hand still pushes sprawl and developments away from transit.

Not always true. Housing is very affordable near any of these stations: Suitland, Deanwood, Naylor Road, Minnesota Avenue, Southern Avenue, Congress Heights, Addison Road, Capital Heights, Anacostia, Benning Road

Who is obsessing?! White males control the media and place their direct and indirect platforms of how they perceive the world through their own eyes and consciousness.
